The Secular Order

Secular Order Discalced Carmelites OCDS

Within the Discalced (Teresian) Carmelite family there are the friars, the nuns and those who belong to the Secular Order – the seculars.
The seculars are fully part of the Carmelite Order taking similar promises to friars and nuns but related to their lives as lay people.
All members of the Secular Order belong to a community. Most communities are fairly small in number but the support they offer to individual members is invaluable.
