The Church relies on people getting involved. Our parish, our community, our world needs you. Could your New Year’s resolution be getting more involved in the life of our church? Which aspects of church brings you life or joy? Could you give a bit of time to help those parts flourish?

CAFOD, the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development, are looking for people to give some time and join them in their mission. Could you help in our parish, inspiring our church to help build a better world or by visiting our local schools? Or raise a voice and campaign for justice or perhaps speak for CAFOD throughout the area? Could you support local volunteers or share your admin or people skills to help CAFOD keep costs low? LAUDATO SI GROUP

Some members of our parish are in the process of forming a Laudato Si group – a group which will dedicate time to reflecting on the tremendous gift of our mother EARTH and the responsibility we have to protect it. There will be talks and discussions as well as some action plans to promote an awareness of this duty we have towards our environment. Please watch out for kick off date.

SEASON OF CREATION

The theme for the Season of Creation 2023 is Let peace and justice flow like a river. The Prophet Amos cries out: “But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” (Amos 5: 24) and so we are called to join the river of justice and peace, to take up climate and ecological justice, and to speak out with and for communities most impacted by climate injustice and the loss of biodiversity.

Pope Francis writes in Laudate Deum 69. I ask everyone to accompany this pilgrimage of reconciliation with the world that is our home and to help make it more beautiful, because that commitment has to do with our personal dignity and highest values. At the same time, I cannot deny that it is necessary to be honest and recognize that the most effective solutions will not come from individual efforts alone, but above all from major political decisions on the national and international level.

70. Nonetheless, every little bit helps, and avoiding an increase of a tenth of a degree in the global temperature would already suffice to alleviate some suffering for many people. Yet what is important is something less quantitative: the need to realize that there are no lasting changes without cultural changes, without a maturing of lifestyles and convictions within societies, and there are no cultural changes without personal changes.

Children Classes and Liturgy

We have commenced our children’s classes and liturgy. The gathering of children for their own liturgy will be very beneficial to their growth in faith. Therefore we encourage all parents with children of this age to bring them to the 10.00am Mass so that they can participate in the class and liturgy.
